SPOTLIGHT MERCHANT: VINTAGE CUPBOARD

Robin Christian and Karen Franke are the owners of Vintage Cupboard, which opened in May 2006. After struggling to come up with the perfect name for their business, one evening Karen's husband looked at an old cupboard and simply asked, "How about Vintage Cupboard?" As Karen shared, the store is filled with old stuff encased by walls like a "cupboard."

Owners: Robin Christian & Karen Franke
They chose the location of Vintage Cupboard, next to the Antique Mall (at 21120 134th Ave N in Rogers behind Denny's) because of its warehouse feel, low overhead, and high traffic. The duo is pleased with the reception from the community and excited to offer a unique variety of product that is appreciated and purchased by patrons nationwide.
Karen has been attracted to antiques all her life and Robin was looking for a career change. They have been friends for several years and the timing was right, so they decided to combine their talents and create a unique shopping experience. They are thrilled to remain in the community and excited to share new product for each season. Currently, visitors will find autumn and Christmas decorations along with gift-giving ideas. The Vintage Cupboard also carries a "staple" product line, which include special order and antique furniture, candles, floral pieces and more. Karen and Robin are also constantly looking for homemade, one-of-a-kind work that compliments their merchandise.
Karen and Robin have worked hard to ensure their products appeals to every type of shopper. On any given day groups of women, moms with children and even husband and wife teams shop at the Vintage Cupboard. Another feature that adds to the inviting atmosphere is the treats: popcorn, coffee, pop and cookies.
The Vintage Cupboard carries Swedish furniture from the mid-1800s. These whitewashed pieces carry ornate details reflective of their time and are offered at very reasonable prices. They also offer brass beds, custom-built tables and chairs, and accent pieces.
A goal of the Vintage Cupboard is to offer affordable product for all ages. Shoppers will find high-quality specialty soaps, custom jewelry, hand-stenciled tin accessories and candles co-mingled with unique furniture, accent pieces and decorations. The artistic displays help shoppers image how the vast array of items would look in their home. It is obvious Karen and Robin love their new venture! Support this local establishment and visit the Vintage Cupboard, where the old is new again. Store hours are: Wednesday through Saturday 10am - 5pm; Sunday 12 - 4pm; Closed: Monday and Tuesday.
