RAPPORT AFGHANISTAN
Rogers resident, Geoff Forbes and his friend, Shawn Mingus are part of a newly formed 501c3 nonprofit organization called Rapport Afghanistan. Here is some background that led to this:
Shawn and Geoff felt America should do something to give back to the people of Afghanistan for the loving, selfless way that they protected and saved one of our own. Shawn spoke with some US Army commanders who are leading combat missions in Afghanistan (Shawn himself was an Infantry officer a number of years ago). One commander told Shawn of some basic unmet needs of the local people. In the Hindu Kush mountains, it can get as cold as a Minnesota winter, and many people (including children) do not have coats.
Shawn decided to set up a 501c3 to supply coats to the people of Afghanistan. This effort will aid in the US Army's goal to win the hearts and minds of the people. Our military will personally give coats to the local people, and they will be told that they are coming from ordinary Americans like you and me. The goal by the end of the summer is to collect 50,000 gently used or new coats. Local Army National Guard units from Minnesota and Iowa will be giving the coats out in Afghanistan later this year.
Anything that you can contribute will be much appreciated! Receiptswill gladly be provided so you can claim a tax deduction. Please forward this appeal to your friends, neighbors, civic groups, churches, etc. We need many people to spearhead individual coat drives in order for the goals of the overall drive to be met. Thank you!

Spotlight Merchant
The Rogers Report is a site to provide a centralized spot for our
citizens to find out what's happening in their community. In addition,
we feel it's important to give exposure to our local merchants so you know
what's available and so we can do our part to help them be sucessful in their
endeavors. We will be offering a regular feature called "Spotlight Merchant" If you'd like to recommend a business to be featured please contact
us here at the Rogers Report.
HOT SHOTS PARTY BUS
Jake at 612.390.3738 or Brad at 320.630.4162
This is a brand new business in the Rogers area and it's rather unique as well.
As the name suggests (Hot Shots Party Bus) it's a "Party Bus" and rather impressive
at that. I guess the best way to describe it is that it's a limousine with room to party.
The bus holds up to 17 people and offers plush, lounge leather seating and a beautiful decor.
Some of the other amenities include two flat screen TVs, an iPod docking station, bathroom,
CD player, DVD player, two bars, keg holder/cooler and cooler storage.
You can take the bus to and from various destinations and party in between on the road. Or
stay on the bus the whole night. There's no need for a designated driver because Hot Shots
provides the driver. I know that there is a fair number of folks in our town that
enjoy a good party. This option could open up a whole new world. So if you decide
to give Hot Shots Party Bus a try, drop me a note and tell me how it went.
For more information on the Hot Shots Party Bus call Jake at 612.390.3738 or Brad at 320.630.4162
Look for our next Merchant Spotlight when we check out Amigos Restaurant. -Mike |
